Swinging Bridge in Pontiac, Illinois

This bridge, constructed in 1926, connects Play Park and Chautaqua Park. Pontiac is the only city in Central Illinois with three swinging bridges. The bridges span the Vermilion River and were originally built so residents could get to work.

Pontiac, Illinois is a pretty little town and well worth a visit if you're ever in the area. It's a Route 66 stop.

well there you go... I now will never go on it! "I tried to make it swing when I was on it ... no luck!" they may not swing but get a few people walking about and bet it bounces like crazy!
