Unfortunately, at this year's third and final club Christmas Dinner, I forgot to say "no gravy", and my venison pie and the vegetables with it were served absolutely swimming in the muck. But I had only myself to blame.

Didn't you to go to your usual family dinner where you have to wait for it to go cold before you start?

Yes, but this year the dinner was self-service buffet-style and when we'd each helped ourselves and sat down we could start straight away. Much better.
