Nelson’s Monument, Derbyshire

This 11' high gritstone column stands on top of Birchen Edge in the Derwent Valley, 1,000ft above sea level. It was erected in 1810 in honour of Nelson following his victory and death at the Battle of Trafalgar.

Gotcha on that Howard,. a brilliant walking area,. I understand there is a 'Wellingtons monument' too on baslow edge - we used to see it from the A621 dropping down to Baslow,. but now it seems grown trees obscure - 'Keep well and go steady from > Dj
