Golden Cotswold stone.

Howard Somerville replied to Isisbridge:

Golden or not, because the fronts of the principal buildings are in deep shade, in the (original) version -
P1001380
- the gold doesn't glow and the scene (lacking any colours bar that of stone and a bit of pale blue and a bit of green, looks pedestrian. The mono version emphasises the pattern of light and shade instead, and IMHO is more interesting.

Isisbridge replied to Howard Somerville:

As a child, I had an ancient tome called Romantic Britain, and all the pictures were mono,
so I'm accustomed to using my imagination.
