My grateful thanks to all those who have commented on this picture, and think it's picture book-like, magnificent, fairy tale-like or wonderful, and to those who think it's D - "Quite horrendous".

Isisbridge replied to Howard Somerville:

Don't mention it. I'm only too happy to reciprocate the many Ds you've awarded me over the years, and I hope the plaudits don't go to your head!

Howard Somerville replied to Isisbridge:

Not at all, though I do respect the judgement of those whose opinion about what are (or are not) good pictures differs so radically from yours.

And as for the "many" Ds I've awarded yours (3 at the most) I've forborne to throw a bucketload of water over entire batches of your pictures, dismissing them as "horrendous".

And if my sense of composition is so bad, then the value of my positive feedback on others' work must be highly suspect.

Andy Rodker replied to Howard Somerville:

Consider me suspect ... and happily so!

Isisbridge replied to Howard Somerville:

You're welcome to award me as many Ds as you like, as my work is more of a record and not dependent on others' praise or criticism. Far from dismissing all of your stuff as horrendous, I did actually fave your recent railway picture, as well as the hollyhocks, the churchyard roses, and the English flag... But why should it matter to you so much? You criticise my composition, and I criticise yours.

Isisbridge replied to Howard Somerville:

P.S. I think you're underestimating yourself in claiming that you've only three times awarded me a D. I've just come across this one, which you rated as an M. Mind you, that was eight years ago.

Howard Somerville replied to Isisbridge:

Overestimating myself, more likely. Perhaps I should be commended for my restraint.
