Howard Somerville replied to Isisbridge:

I admit that this composition has its limitations, but it's colourful, jolly and summery in a cosy sort of way, and the occasional "D Certificate" picture - if it's one of a set of pictures taken on the same excursion - can I think justify its inclusion.

Isisbridge replied to Howard Somerville:

Jolly diarr perhaps, but harsh rather than cosy.

Always been fond of hollyhocks and always had them in my various gardens. I see them in the wild on my walks in the Mountains of Central Spain and love seeing them here too!

Howard Somerville replied to Andy Rodker:

Yes, they've long been associated with olde cottages. The heat and drought we're experiencing here at the moment isn't good for walking or for photography, but (as I discovered yesterday) the Hollyhocks seem to like it.
