Looks idyllic, but far too close to a busy road.

It does and is. Most of Cookham (which has many other historic and beautiful buildings) is spoilt by constant traffic and by being cluttered 24/7 up with parked cars.

As in so many places - cars make it possible to visit many wonderful places, but can easily spoil the wonder at the same time! (The removal of the large car park from the approach to Mont San Michele has made a big difference!)
