In this case perhaps not, unless smartphones do some sort of tonemapping internally (they might well) to cope with HDR exposures. With this shot, the house and walls were overexposed, but fortunately I had the RAW image (even though in those days I used a small-sensor Lumix LX7) and was able to rescue it using Silkypix. Today (assuming I had my wits about me at the time) I'd have bracketed the exposure. 2014 was a good year for Snowdrops, but even then they weren't quite as profuse as they appear to be, here.
