Staggering shot! I had no idea that there was so much country visible from here. I can see it's 1970 but even so I would have expected to see more of modern city encroachment.
Fifty years is a long time. From Bing Maps' aerial view, it appears that those hillsides have since (as was probably inevitable) been built over, and I read that some years ago the model was cut into transportable sections and relocated to a museum somewhere else.
Ideally I'd have liked to have been there prior to 70AD and taken a picture of the real thing, but there were no tours going there in those days.
Ha ha! Now I'm the one made to look very silly. My excuse is that I was tired and in need if a long sleep! You put me right, Howard without saying what a wally I was. Thank you!
