It did remind me of Wilton's and I wondered if someone would guess that but it's not there. It's an entrance on a busy road.

There wasn't meant to be a clue in the title. It was just what came into my head. It is in Islington though but not a pub. In fact, it probably didn't serve drink at all. But it is erstwhile...

certainly looks it. no drink of any sort ? that rules out most places of entertainment, but your "probably" is an odd hint; for most places it would be more clearcut.

Not sure that eels were on the menu but they certainly cooked a lot of potatoes.
