Edward Daniel Cannady
Edward D. Cannady, was one of the founders of Portland's African American newspaper, The Advocate. He was the first husband of Beatrice Hulon Morrow, a civil rights advocate who also later became the co-editor of The Advocate (when they met he was a waiter at a hotel in Portland). His wife was one of the founders of Oregon's chapter of the NAACP. The couple had two sons, George (1913-1968) and Ivan (1915-1987).
