There's always a great deal of pathos in industrial ruins. They are not merely buildings but are repositories of the hopes and dreams of the workers who depended on them. The broken fence is indicative of the modern disdain for the industrial, working class past. Compare this picture with the way the stately homes of the rich are protected and revered.
