Il se rend dans de nombreuses villes italiennes et finit par attraper la maladie qu’il combat. Par crainte d’infecter son prochain, il se retire dans une forêt de son plein gré pour s’isoler. Mais alors qu’il agonise, Dieu lui envoie chaque jour un chien qui lui lèche ses plaies et lui apporte un petit pain. C’est pourquoi saint Roch est souvent représenté avec un chien à ses côtés dans les œuvres d’art, et qu'il est considéré comme le saint patron des chiens.

A côté sur le mur, ce sont les anciens instruments de musique de la fanfare de La Clayette.

More details: this is the statue of St Roch: In the 14th century, St Roch set out to help those suffering from the plague. He travelled to many Italian towns and eventually caught the disease he was fighting. For fear of infecting others, he voluntarily withdrew to a forest to isolate himself. But as he lay dying, God sent him a dog every day to lick his wounds and bring him a small loaf of bread. This is why Saint Roch is often depicted with a dog by his side in works of art, and why he is considered the patron saint of dogs.

Next to it on the wall are the old musical instruments of the La Clayette brass band.

Effectivement, c'est la maison où il y a l'horloge et ça faisait longtemps que j'avais envie d'avoir des explications à ce sujet, la personne était devant chez elle lorsque je suis passé.
