The recent stormy weather brought an unusual visitor to Sunderland with the MV Hjaltland of Northlink Ferries lingering offshore. Serving the Aberdeen - Kirkwall - Lerwick route, the ship was headed to Newcastle for its annual refit, but the strong easterly winds prevented it reaching its destination.

After almost four days sailing around offshore, it finally arrived into Newcastle on 7 February. I am sure the crew will have been very relieved with that!
