At the end of January/beginning of February 2026, there was an intensive search and rescue operation off the coast of Tenerife.
The incident: On January 29, 2026, a 30-year-old woman and her dog were swept into the sea by a large wave in the north of Tenerife (Tacoronte).
The search: The Spanish Coast Guard (Salvamento Marítimo) launched a large-scale search operation, which was hampered at times by difficult weather conditions and high waves.
Result: On February 2, 2026, local media (teneriffa-news.com) reported that the search for the missing person had been suspended for the time being after a body was discovered in the water.
