The Battle of Hastings - Watching Out
Visit to Battle of Hastings where William the Conquerer defeated King Harold Godvinson.
The former battlefield is a park today. Sculptures and information boards let you follow the medieval battle of October 14th, 1066. In the museum more details of the battle and the historic background can be learned.
King Harlod was strategically in a better position, because his army was well-positioned on the hill while William's Norman army had to attack from the foot of the hill.
However William and his army won the battle because Harold was killed in action and his soldiers fled from the battleground.
Winning this battle was the key moment for William to become king of England by the end of the year 1066 and to take over power.
Impressive visit to one of most important historic places in England.
