Lion Yawn

Taken during our 2018 safari in South Africa. We got to see a number of lion groups in the Kruger National Park area.

This was taken with the Panasonic GX85 with a 200-400 telephoto, and then cropped with GIMP.

I was pushing the shutter button as fast as I could. Only in post-processing, could I pick the images I found compelling.

The Panasonic GX85 (among others) offers a continuous 4K recording feature. That is, it can make a stream of 4K stills for as long as you want, the battery is good, and the chip can hold them. Extracting the individual frames takes some effort, but the results can be remarkable. Didn't do it for the African Safari, just kept shooting.
