Traffico Limitato - HFF!

In an effort to allow restaurants to resume business as soon as possible while limiting impact on the virus transmission, the government revoked regulations that keep private businesses from occupying public spaces. This allowed restaurants that did not have outdoor spaces to set up tables in the public street (usually only on the sidewalks). Here, historical Trattoria "Il Moretto", serving some of the best food to be had in town, has taken advantage of the fact that it lies on a downtown alley where vehicular traffic is restricted to take over most of the street.
I must say I like this. It took me back to a time when regulations were lax or nonexistent and life regularly spilled over on the streets and it gives, to towns and even cities, the feeling of a more relaxed, tolerant, even intimate, village life.

HFF, everybody, and wishing you all a fun weekend!

A lovely street scene Annalia. That is what I call making use of the space - the canopy over the table looks as if it just fits!! It must be nice to have the opportunity to enjoy yourselves and get back a bit of normality. Sadly opening everything up here, pubs, clubs etc., may well have contributed to the rising covid figures.

Have a lovely weekend, HFF!

Yes, I read about the upswing in cases you are experiencing. Here, fortunately, we are holding up better than expected so far. Some regulations were kept in place all along, like masking indoors and in crowded outdoor places and they seem to have helped. Not sure what will happen now that the season will no longer be conducive to dining "al fresco". Personally, I still avoid dining indoors, despite the green pass requirements.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend, Carol.

It looks very pleasant in this lovely capture Annalia, while not a fan of outside dining I understand the circumstances but the whole meeting and dining thing still has risks as we are finding out again.

Annalia S. replied to Roger (Grisly):

Thank you, Roger. You are right, of course. We did eat out a few times outdoors this summer, but will avoid restaurants now that the season no longer permits dining outdoors. Despite the green pass requirements for patrons and workers, we still feel it's too much of a risk.
Have a nice weekend and stay vigilant. As the Americans say, it's not over until the fat lady sings.

HFF, enjoy your weekend. Herb

Annalia S. replied to Herb Riddle:

The menu is local mountain cuisine. Polenta (a substitute for bread made from corn meal) with various stews, mushrooms (grilled, sautéed, fried, roasted), seasoned cheeses, sausages, salami, grilled meats and sides of cole slaw, chicory greens, beans, roasted pumpkin and other vegetables. Also some hearty soups. All very tasty but a bit heavy on the butter (which is locally made and delicious, but still not the healthiest choice if you are watching cholesterol).
Is your mouth watering yet? :)))
Have a nice weekend and thank you for visiting, Herb.

That looks a marvellous place to spend some time, Annalia. With higher rates of vaccination we're just opening up again from extended lockdowns. HFF, have a great weekend.

What a beautiful street scene !
It makes me think of the great Avenues . . . somewhere...
Full of cars and noise and millions of people everyday.
Here we could last three centuries more . . .
HFF to you and a very sunny day.
