colors in the kitchen (PIPS)
Kidney beans are not easy to find around here. A friend who knows our preference for them found some dried ones at the farmer's market and gifted us a bag. I love their color and decided to document the various stages of preparation.
First pip: soaking in water for at least 12 hours. They get all wrinkly as the peel rehydrates faster than the kernel inside.
Second pip and main photo: after soaking, just drained.
Third pip: cooked and dressed, ready to eat!
With about half of them I made a less healthy but tasty "chili con carne" which ... didn't last long enough to be photographed! :D
