Here we go again! - PIP

After successfully raising two chicks ("Woodito" and "Woodone" - We had to help Woodito out a little because he was the runt of the litter and managed to fall from the nest before he was quite ready to fly, but he's doing just fine now and was even smart enough to trust my husband, who had been feeding him, but no other humans ... including me :D) and then getting into some pretty spectacular (and noisy!) fights to defend their nesting territory, the wood pigeons are now busy building a new nest in the tree in front of our kitchen window. This time, however, they are building it in a more sheltered part of the tree, where we won't be able to follow the developments quite as easily. :(

Yes, took me a few tries (and a few shots of "blurry flutterings" :D) to catch him.
Have a nice Sunday evening!

Annalia S. replied to Jocelyne Villoing:

They have such a pretty livery and they are hard working, dedicated parents. I don't mean to say human parents don't work hard to raise their kids, but bird parents really have it tough!

Have a nice Sunday evening, Jocelyne, and thank you for your kind comment!

Annalia S. replied to J.Garcia:

Thank you, Judite. I must say that the adventures of our little feathered friends in the garden really helped us deal more calmly with the time of confinement. Seeing them go through the struggles of life with courage and determination was inspiring.
Have a great Sunday evening!

Annalia S. replied to José Manuel Polo:

Muchas gracias, José Manuel! Son aves muy bonitas y trabajan muy duro para criar sus pequeñitos! En el tiempo en que estuvimos confinados me ayudó mucho ver como las aves del jardín se enfrentaban con coraje y determinación a los muchos desafíos de sus vidas.

Que pases una buena tarde!

Well caught with the building materials, Annalia. As you mentioned above, it's good to have some friendly birdlife around, they add so much interest. Best wishes for the coming week.

Annalia S. replied to tiabunna:

Thank you, George. I love having animal life around of any kind (well, ok, I make an exception with mosquitoes ...). Hope you and Pauline are doing well!

Well done Annalia and good work looking out for one of feathered friends.

Annalia S. replied to HappySnapper:

Thank you, HappySnapper. It probably could have survived without our help, but we didn't see the parents coming to feed it and worried it would not get enough strength to learn to fly that way. It's a pleasure to share the garden with these little friends!
Have a nice evening!

A very funny photo and an interesting story, Annalia!

P.S. I now see you live in my favorite city in the world. No, I have not been to every city, but I am sure that if I had, Florence would still be my favorite! ;-)
