cautious deconfinement - PIPs and HFF!

A sizeable chunk of the Italian workforce is back at work since May 4th (with PPE, social distancing and other preventative measures applied), but schools and libraries (as well as theatres, museums, gyms, cafes, restaurants and many shops) are still closed. The changing images on a large led screen behind a shuttered shop window in my neighbourhood seemed to offer an opportunity for a conceptual rendering of the cautious deconfinement necessary to (hopefully) prevent a new spike in infections.

In the main image and PIPs: a library, a school and a worker without PPE, all appearing shut out behind the chainlink shutter.

HFF to everyone, to those who are still under full confinement and to those who are emerging from it! And HFF also to those who (like many of my American friends and relatives), depending on where they live, may be confined, unconfined, deconfined or hiding under the mattress and shaking their head at the folly of their leaders ...

Unfortunately the projected models showed that reopening schools would be disastrous ...

Annalia S. replied to Roger (Grisly):

Hi, Roger. I have been keeping an eye on the UK covid situation and it looks like you are getting it almost as bad as Italy did. But confinement worked here, I am sure it will for you too.
HFF in spite of everything and I hope you have a good weekend.

Very poignant photos! I can well understand parents and young people chafing at the restrictions, but you do well to be careful!
I'm a bit afraid about what will happen in Germany, I think some are overly optimistic.
HFF, Annalia, stay safe and take care!

Annalia S. replied to Gudrun:

Thank you, Gudrun. Yes. It's tough on the children, from the smaller ones who probably don't understand why they can't play with their friends at the park, all the way to adolescents who must deal with the hormonal changes and the need to assert their individuality in the midst of an unprecedented social crisis. And it's no less tough on the parents and on many others, but unfortunately the projections showed that reopening schools would have plunged us right back into the pit we were in before confinement. So we must be patient.
HFF to you and I hope you have a good weekend!

Malik Raoulda replied to Annalia S.:

Ils devaient restreindre le nombre d’élèves et respecter les consignes, voila ce que j'ai entendu dire..A mon avis si le risque existe,il vaut mieux retourner au confinement.
