morning on the bridge

Morning comings and goings on the Santa Trinita Bridge, under the watchful eye of the statue representing Summer.
The bridge, originally build from a design by Michelangelo, was bombed during WWII and painstakingly rebuilt afterwards. The four statues (representing the four seasons) were also fished out of the river and reinstated at the heads of the bridge. For years, Spring's head was believed lost but was eventually retrieved in 1961.

Thank you, Judite. It's an opportunity for me to do a bit of researching on my own city and this is a place where I often notice a very nice light in the morning.

Yep, not wearing the right clothes for this time a year ... My Mother would have given her some pretty stern motherly guidance on how to keep from catching colds! :)
Thanks for the visit, Udo. Hope you are enjoying your week end!

Good tension between the idealized statue and the real passersby.
