We need these current black & white Paris photos. They work so well with the high contrast style you have.
Really like them all.

Did you know that Benjamin Franklin was a guest here? In 1776, the Continental Congress decided to send a delegation to Paris. This delegation consisted of Benjamin Franklin, the merchant Silas Deane and Arthur Lee from Virginia. Their aim was to procure weapons and ammunition for the Continental Army and to form an alliance with France against Britain.

But I don't think there was a bar like this one at the Procope back then. :-)

I did not know that! Fascinating. Can you imagine making that trip back then? 1-2 months travel time. One would need a bar like that once you got there - and be sad when there wasn't. haha.

In fact, the Mayflower 1620 took a little over a month from Plymouth to Virginia. Whether it was different in the opposite direction, I don't know - it probably depends a lot on wind direction and currents. Maybe the rigging of the ships was more efficient 150 years later. But I also think they were at sea for at least a month. And then there was the journey by stagecoach from the coast (Honfleur?) to Paris, which is about 130 miles. If we assume a two-day coach journey, they would certainly have needed to spend the night on the way.
