Father Francis D. Duffy Statue and Duffy Square
Duffy Square is the northern triangle of Times Square. It is located between 46th and 47th Streets, Broadway and Seventh Avenue. In November 2015, most of Duffy Square was a construction site. I guess this would not be possible in summer due to the high number of tourists.
By the way: In Manhattan, most roads are either horizontal or vertical. They are called horizontal "Streets", vertical "Avenues". The 5th Avenue forms an axis. To the left of the 5th Ave. the streets get the addition "West", to the right "East", e.g.. W 47th St. and E 47th St. The principle is simple, you don't really need a city map. perhaps just for a brief orientation.
One of the few exceptions is the Broadway. It follows an old trail of the Native American inhabitants. Whenever the Broadway crosses an avenue at an acute angle, a so-called square is created: Duffy Square (7th Ave.), Time Square(7th Ave.), Herald Square (6th Ave.), Madison Square (5th Ave.), Union Square (4th Ave.).
