The Cuckoo

Taken on the Isle of Skye.
A cunning master of misdirection, the cuckoo’s reputation precedes it. These brood parasites spook woodland birds from their nests, then lay their own eggs in them to be brought up by the host.

Often heard but seldom seen Gordon. Yes such a lovely song but a horrible way to bring up their young at the detriment of other birds. Well caught.

Cheers. Herb

Excellent photo. Interestingly I saw Cuckoos in a few places locally this year, perhaps more than average but was it just I was making the effort to notice them!

Very well spotted and taken TOZ............I've only ever seen a cuckoo in the wild once, although I've heard them frequently. You did well to get this super image!
