Windows & Doors Behind The Big Church

A little chapel behind Center Street Congregational Church which itself whitely dominates the skyline of Machias Maine. More than a religious building, the main church structure is a community center for a variety of functions, including The Downeast Blueberry Festival every August.

What a stunningly proportioned little building. An archetype of American Gothic, I was wondering where the couple with the pitchfork had got to.

L. L. Wall replied to John FitzGerald:

(I recently found out that the couple in Grant Wood's "American Gothic" is supposed to be farmer and daughter, not farmer-and-wife ... and in Downeast Maine, pitchforks would be replaced with blueberry rakes.)
