The Derwent valley dams,.. 'Howden' - 'Derwent' and 'Ladybower'. Seen here are the twin towers of the 'Derwent dam' built between 1902 - 1916 showing the low water level but now swiftly rising due to recent rains. The nearby concrete blocks were supports for a railway line of over 7 miles (11 km) built to carry the thousands of tons of stone required for the construction of the dams from nearby quarries..
