Mary Hadfield formerly Cooper lived here with her two sons Edward and Jonathon,. her new husband Alexander Hadfield - and an employed hand George Viccars ..
George Viccars the first plague victim died on 7th. September 1665 / Edward Cooper aged 4 died on the 22nd. September 1665 / Jonathon Cooper aged 12 died 2nd. October 1665 / Alexander Hadfield died 3rd. August 1666 / Mary alone survived but lost 13 relatives.

Wow! Definitely not the sort of history you'd advertise when you wanted to sell the cottage on! It's amazing that Mary Hadfield survived, especially as all the others associated with the house didn't..!!

Notwithstanding its background, it looks like a really beautiful cottage and the garden is lovely. A great find and beautifully captured.

I like the image of the stocks in the PiP..............say what you like, the people knew how to entertain themselves in those days :-))
