Chesterfield canal - opened in 1777 ,. 46 miles long from the river Trent to Chesterfield.. but much of the length is not passable until further restoration is completed. Here is the 'Hollingwood hub' visitor centre - locks - and a cafe'... a good day out for families with bookable boat trips.
