I like this picture very much!
I know exactly where you were when you took this. A spot I have stood on many times before!
The pointed mountain on the right is Cnicht, a very obvious landmark, and a great climb. (Done it many times)
The correct pronunciation is "Porthmadog". The old days the English 'Portmadoc' was used, but not any more.

What a splendid scene you have captured here David. The weather and conditions on your day here were quite different from the ones we experienced some years back. I never really knew which pronunciation to use on this town either! Great stuff, enjoy the rest of your trip.
