A lone beetle.. and its tracks... 'Monte Gordo' beach... Portugal,.

A post from 2019 - one year ago.. to the day.... whilst sitting in the early evening sunshine..among the beautiful sand dunes of 'Monte gordo'...a lonely beetle came wandering by - making it's unique trail in the powdery soft fine sands... we followed it's path.. until it met some long and greener growth.. where it disappeared no doubt feeling safer there.

We call them "carocha". When I was a kid it was fun to build a basin on the sand and to put two on the bottom and bet which would be the first one to reach the top of the slope... I reassure you, we did never harm them in any way.
