The Hope valley... from 'Winnats Pass'

As we reach the higher points of the 'Winnats pass' ... this backwards look shows a large sweep of the 'Hope valley'. The 'Speedwell cavern' entrance can be seen middle right and the distant popular tourist village of 'Castleton' has not yet cleared from the morning mist.

Glorious!!
Our university climbiuing and walking club stayed at Grindleford and we walked here a lot, when we weren't climbing at Froggat or Stanage Edges!

David G Johnson replied to Andy Rodker:

A great thing to do Andy.. you will know the region very well then..and also enjoyed it and made friends. I have never officially climbed.. but did a bit of casual caving around old lead mines - scares me to death when I think back !
Keep well .. Cheers from Dave.
