Canada Tour Prince Rupert

One of the landmarks of Prince Rupert,
Prince Rupert is literally the end of the road. Located on the north coast of mainland British Columbia, Prince Rupert is known for receiving some of the highest annual rainfall in the world.
Despite the rain, Prince Rupert is a great little town with special charm and stunning scenery.
Founded in 1910, the city is located in an area that has a rich history. The current port of Prince Rupert was once a hub for Native trade and commerce. With a population of approximately 14,000, the port has taken this tradition of trade and commerce to a higher level.

Archaeological and DNA analysis evidence that the north coast of British Columbia has been inhabited by aboriginal peoples for over 10,000 years.
Today, First Nations make up more than half of the population, and First Nations culture is ubiquitous in Prince Rupert's cityscape. From the Native basketball tournament to the numerous native artists and carvers who display their work in local galleries and stores, the presence of First Nations is indicative of the deep cultural and historical context of the region.
