First when I saw the man and the woman in the painting I thought it's something sleazy, but then I saw that the woman is playing a game with the apples in the water. She tries to take the apples out of the water with her mouth. I've seen already at another place. :-)

It was a game played on the beach in summer time. The old sailors recreated the images by painting them on their boats and adding a bit of "spicy" ...
