Hi Gudrun ~ it was a lucky day ~ I just happened to have my camera on its tripod on my balcony when I noticed this squadron of Geese approaching

Nick Weall replied to Amelia:

Hi dear LGM ~~~ Thank you for reminding me ~ Do you know that I haven't a clue as to what I won, it was three things I think, all useful to photographers perhaps but not to me ~ the thrill of winning was sufficient for me.

Thanks for your compliments. Have you had sufficient rain now or your garden?

There is a race later today ~~~ Enjoy your Sunday x

Amelia replied to Nick Weall:

A smidgen of rain today - not enough, and the wind has dried everything up again. At least I managed to shampoo the dining room carpet on Friday and it all dried very quickly.

Hi Rosa ~ thank you very much for your appreciation ~ This is the first time that this image has been anywhere other than on Pano where it clocked up an amazing number of visits ~ I wish you all the very best for the coming week ~ Nick

WOW! A fantastic shot, Nick!
I remember I had one shot on Pano that achieved an astonishing number of vsits and it really wasn't all that special There was a logical reason, something to do with it being used as a tourist photo but I never did understand it! I posted it on ipernity and it garnered a far more modest number of visits! I'll post it below.

Nick Weall replied to Andy Rodker:

Hi Andy, do you remember that popular images used to get bigger thumbnails on google earth, although quite how they got to the first hurdle I'm not sure. In your case probably it was to do with it being a landmark and perhaps you were the first one there so to speak. It is a great image and deserves to be viewed.
As to my one, it was entered into the monthly Pano competition, landmark section if I remember correctly. It is all a bit fuzzy now
Panoramio would work in fits and starts, sometimes the daily viewing figures would be impossibly high, whilst sometimes the opposite was true, especially towards the end ~~~
