Yes definitely isn't a Gadwall ~ You could well be right but my little book suggests male (Black & White) rather than female (Brownish). You know much more than me about birds though :~) All the best ~ Nick

You are right Nick there is also a faint sign of the white spot at the base of its beak usually very pronounced on the male Goldeneye which makes me wonder if thes was a male juvinile ?
