I agree with Sarah here Peter a lovely shot indeed and certainly fantastic period costumes .. from this slightly lower angle it certainly looks like the hight of the sails from the ground could have proven an issue for people waring tall Red hats on a mill working day
As I said to Sarah, this was from the same medieval weekend as www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/49295848 and www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/49364454 . The buildings on the site are all genuine historic, not not neccesserily medieval. In the case of this windmill, you are right about the sails, they do come very low to the ground, but I guess they didn't have elf n safety back then!

Obviously the land owner and mill owner and his family have come to collect rent money from the poor miller. I can see he's got his purse belt at the ready. ;-)

I enjoyed so much this gorgeous portrait in its perfect composition and contrast of colours.
Certainly a picture to get the imagination going!!
The vivid costumes of the day were great fun, although the weather could have been better.
I am sure the little girl went home very happy at the end of the weekend!
