Hi Steve ,

I am pleased you found it interesting. I took a lot of pictures of the moon that night, many the same idea. Now I must figure our what to do with them!!

My dear Peter,

A very beautiful detail of the Super Wolf Blood Moon, here !
This was really worth getting up very early! (I think, it was taken around 04:30 AM?)

My Dear Füsun,

Thank you so much for your very kind comments. It is a pity that Istanbul did not get it. At least in this way we can share the very special thing we experienced! You are right, the EXIF is correct, a very cold (below freezing) January morning!!!

Love Peter

... wonderful capture of this unusual event ...

I am totally jealous ... I was outside at midnight with a cranky uncooperative tripod and I am going to blame the weather for my poor results -- (beautiful clear sky with every bit of water vapor frozen out of the atmosphere) because it was -12C (!!) with 20mph wind, and so my fingers and patience just would not cooperate ... I ended up with a couple handheld shots that were better (but not good) than I expected ... (aiming camera with attached tripod waving around; it would have been funny, if it hadn't been so bleeping c-c-cold ! ) ...

Hi Wally,

Thank you so much for visiting, and your sad story. At least you got something, and if you had got a decent picture, it would look pretty much the same as most of the other ipernity members who got one too, ... I did hear of a guy who spent all day climbing a big mountain to get above the clouds and into the snow. Now that must have been a cracking picture!! Perhaps you had something similar in mind!

Best Wishes

I see you managed to get it Peter. This is wonderful! The reds and new bright edge are perfect for me. I too got up at 04.15 in order to capture this -even as a series of moons in time delay mode but of course -we were beset by the usual thick cloud cover here in Oldham. I did however get a tiny 2 second glimpse of the moon in the first half of the eclipse through the clouds and before I could get my camera set up, then nothing at all. Like Wally above -totally jealous. ⭐ Very well done.

Peter_Private_Box replied to Herb Riddle:

Hi Herb,

Thank you so much for your glowing praise here! I am sorry that you missed it. I had been studying the weather forecast for days to see where to go to avoid the clouds (and streetlights)
It would appear that the plan paid off..

Best Wishes
