Not sure, but could the mountain in the far distance be Sligachan (the northernmost mountain of the Cuillin Horseshoe)? The shape looks about right but I don't recall seeing it from here (I think it was always raining!)
I'm also not sure the cottages were so attractively painted when I was here last (1980), but it's possible.

I am pleased it brings back nice memories for you. Unfortunately I am not so well up on Scottish mountains, so simply I don't know. As for the colours, maybe they know that coloured houses attract visitors, which bring money...!!!!
