Sarah, can you imagine how heavy these carts were when they were fully loaded and porters had to move goods in markets, stations etc from place to place. None of this not allowed to pick up loads weighing more than 40pounds without mechanical aid. In those times that would have been called graft.
Hey Maurice, thanks for your take on this home made cart.... it caught my eye when we passed om this street in a neighboring town. YES I would think this would have its limits as to how much one could haul on it.... hope you are doing good, Maurice.
Hello Steve, thanks for your visit and your words about the cart. yes this sat in front of a neat, well kept property in a neighboring town. thanks again, enjoy the weekend, best wishes, Sarah x
Hi Sarah
A very pretty garden ornament, and another idea coming!!!
In days gone by they used to have carts like this to carry the slate around in the mines in North Wales.. I can't find a picture of one, but here is a typical mill www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/44036188
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
Peter
Hello Peter, thanks for the comment , and I looked at the link, and I would certainly guess that this type cart would be used for that purpose. thanks for sharing that...
