The Sailor and Jacob HFF!

Aarhus - Denmark

The ship was built in 1943 in Orange, Texas, for the US Army and participated in World War II, including D-Day at Omaha Beach. In 1952, JAKOB came to Aarhus, where she began her work as a tugboat in the city's busy commercial port.

The bronze memorial (Sailor)was commissioned by Aarhus Port Authority and the Marine Association for Aarhus to commemorate the 1,400 Danish sailors who lost their lives at sea during World War II.
