Dusty bottles (1)

On request, but I forget by whom - please remind me!! First of two uploads with a few of my 'special wines' acquired over the years and it doesn't mean I was ever 'Money Bags'. As the lighting wasn't great in the kitchen at night (I should have waited till morning but there's always too much hustle and bustle in the kitchen at that time. I'll give brief summaries of these wines L to R starting with the iconic ºººChâteau d'Yquem 1990. The World's greatest dessert wine. ºººChâteau Chasse Spleen 1995, Not a classed growth but I include it as it always served me well. ºººChâteau Léoville Las Cases 1990. A famous St. Julien claret. I feel like opening it on my 65th birthday shortly. LATER ADDITION. I DRANK IT ON MY BIRTHDAY AND WAS BLOWN AWAY!" ºººA Mascarello Barolo 99. Famous, and may just about be ready to drink! ºººA Gaja Barolo Sperrs 1988 (about the most famous wine producer in Italy and prices now to match. A little more reasonable when I bought this!). ºººA Corsini Barbaresco 2007; Looking forward to this one!

Well, this is the last one of a case and it has served me well, developing nicely over the decades!

Not being a wine specialist, I can't comment. I can't remember the last time I had any wine!!

Andy Rodker replied to Jenny McIntyre:

Funnily enough, given my family background in the stuff, Jenny I couldn't bear the taste of ANY alcohol whatsoever from the onset of COVID to about a year after I recovered. I only really got back into enjoying wine a few months ago. I reckon I was teetotal for the best part of 18 months. Who would ever have believed it!? Certainly not me!

Andy Rodker replied to Christa1004:

Only my family ever knew I had these (and many othre bottles of more middling stature). So I'd rather keep it that way if you don't mind, Christa (!) ... ;o)))

Andy Rodker replied to M♥rJ Photogr♥phy !!…:

Thank you, Marj. I gave everyone a fright ... except me! I was blissfully unaware of two months of drama as I was in an induced coma in intensive care!
I knew nothing except that I had some tremendous dreams, some of which involved me making a lot of money and I was so convinced it was true, I asked my girlfriend on waking to take good care of our 'nest egg'. Needless to say it was all imaginary!
Anyway, 18 months of hard rehab and physiotherapy and me pushing myself more than at any time in my life, I can now walk again and talk again, both of which were impossible for several months.
I am now very unexpectedly back in Cornwall looking after my elderly parents.
Sorry for long reply! Hope you've been keeping well in the long time since we last were in contact!

It is true that there are fewer and fewer friends and family left to share these gems with! So pop over and we'll crack open a bot!
