Former parish church, St Day

A pleasing 'shell' of a church. The roof fell in in the 1950s but the building had been dangerous and de-commissioned long before then. The new church over the road also seems to be very old but I guess it was built towards the end of the 19th century. This one was built in the 1820s but in inferior materials and it became unusable very quickly! Now an open air exhibition centre. An expansive graveyard surrounds it - it seems to have been the burial ground of choice for many of the mining villages near here, at least for the minority non- Methodists!
Never really got into Jeff Beck - may he rest in peace - but I thought this was rather good so here it is!

Great framing Andy.............with a bit of a melancholic ambience...........perfectly suited to the the church and graveyard I think.

Such a shame that this church had been allowed to become damaged and no longer in use. I like the shape of it's architecture. It reminds me of the entrance to a jail - the long tree-lined walk to a building with a door shut.

Thank you, everybody! The only reason I have a lot of shots from about 5 pm or so is because that's the only time I can escape for a brief walk just to stretch my legs!

A lovely blue hour shot Andy.
I liked The Yardbirds but didn't really follow Jeff Beck when he left them.
From recent videos I have seen, he is an amazing guitarist!

Andy Rodker replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

Like you Rosa, I heard a fair bit of the Yardbirds and their more traditional bluesy sometime partners in crime, John Mayall and various combos alligned more or less to the heart of the burgeoning English blues scene in the early and mid 60s, and also like you I sort of didn't follow Jeff Beck in any of his future guises and also, I agree with you, what little I have heard in various eulogies has made me re-assess his ability to a large extent!
