Algete - typical street scene on a hot summer afternoon. (Algete street scene 2)

I pass by here every time I go into Algete to go to the shops or to catch a bus into Madrid. A typically hot and dry day. I think the heat comes across here - Certainly over 40ºC that day. (And even the mad dogs weren't out!!)
A fair representation of many of Madrid's outer suburbs. Better on full screen.
And some happy music! www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvcUb2at7os

Andy Rodker replied to Peter_Private_Box:

I got used to it yonks ago, Peter - ever since I spent every summer in the south of France as a teenager. But what I find intolerable is high humidity with these temps!
Fortunately for me, that's rare here and a DRY 40ºC is bearable, whereas a humid 35ºC is not!
Anyway, it's near the end of summer. Comfortable sleep might soon become more than just a dream!
Thank you and best wishes,
Andy

Maybe no mad dogs were out, but at least one crazy Englishman was. Best wishes, Andy.

Andy Rodker replied to Ronald Losure:

Yes. Definately crazy, Ronald ... But I reasoned that 40 mins each way to the shops, and a stop at a favourite deli / wine shop / café to refresh the essentials and to go to the loo (prostate issues), and it's not so much of a problem and it adds many 1,000s of paces to my daily target.
Best wishes,
Andy

I agree with the dry heat being much more bearable. Humidity is why we moved further south.

Looking at the parched hillside you can just wonder that the trees are still green! In a climate loke this I'd only go out in the early morning or in the evening;-)
