Rio Manzanares Walkway and the Teleférico de Madrid

A pleasing walk along Madrid's River. They sank a motorway below it and freed up the surface to make this totally pedestrian riverside park.

Andy Rodker replied to Peter Castell:

I replied to your comment immediately, Peter and in some depth but now it has vanished and I can't remember what I said. It happens from time to time and is so frustrating! I talked about how it was universally approved, even though it took over a decade to complete and the disruption was considerable. And much more but it's gone.

Very nice indeed Andy and wonderful to save this from the motorway plowing through it instead of under

Yes there are certainly wonderful walks around Madrid. I've never visited it, but thanks to your pictures, I am seeing lots of areas of Madrid that are great.

Thank you, Jenny.
I've been coming here since 1980 and so have seen it evolve!

A lovely scene, Andy. This sounds like clever urban redesign, unlike much of the freeway development here.

What beautiful place...............it's good to hear that the motoring and road-building lobby don't always get their own way...........top marks to the planners for a change!
