My local park.

Still very frustrating in that they have opened only one gate - and, Sod's Law - it's the one furthest away from where I live (20 minutes walk away).

Andy Rodker replied to Peggy C:

Thank you, Peggy.
I always try to get up to my 10,000 daily steps on my mobile phone (cell phone) and haven't failed to achieve this for over a year, including strict lockdown when I paced round my flat to distraction!
So when lockdown eased, I set off with gusto and wore out two pairs of trainers but started to average 15,000 steps (with a high of 43,901 when I started out early one morning), with a view to exploring parts of Madrid I didn't know well.
What I'm saying is that while I like this park, it isn't strictly a necessary factor in achieving my daily paces target, but it's there for variety in my routine, if needed. So I enjoy waking here and perhaps once every fortnight, I do so.
Hope all is well with you and yours!

It must be very frustrating, but at least it's good exercise Andy! A beautiful warm image from a very pleasing perspective.

I admire your exercise routines Andy...............it must be difficult to keep clear of the crowds and also to get some variety into your walks. Well done sir.

That's a lovely view too and the light is gorgeous.

Just seen on our news that the number of Covid-19 cases in Spain is rising again and that anyone travelling to the UK from there will now have to go into 14 days self-isolation. They've also advised against all but essential travel to Spain. It's caught a lot of holidaymakers on the hop!

I hope the spike in cases is nowhere near you............stay safe!

Andy Rodker replied to Keith Burton:

Yes, and I have a dilemma. My sister, who lives in the outer reaches of Madrid Province is having a (surprise) birthday (biggie) party at the end of this week. My niece (her daughter, and a GP in Lanzarote), has arranged it and I have been fully involved in the planning. 18 people will be there. Only a handfull have been in regular association these past 4 months.
Me, my niece, and a couple of of others are immune-compromised.
I am unsure whether to go (three different modes of public transport to get there and the same coming back and my niece (a doctor) coming by air to Madrid and then hiring a car for a few days. Probably nothing to worry about.
I love my little sis! I want to be there. But it seems that this is exactly this kind of family reunion that is behind the recent upsurge in positive cases.
Conundrum or what?

A lovely park, Andy. Your daily step count makes me feel positively guilty! I heard the same news tonight as Keith and have to wonder at the crowds seen on TV who seem incapable of understanding social distancing. Stay safe.

Difficult to respect social distances in big cities I guess... and we, Southern people, are used to socialize a lot, kiss and hug a lot, it is very depressing and difficult to live without touching each others.
Well Andy, this contributes to your step rate, mine today is a low one : only 7739 steps... except for walking my dog (who is old and does not want to walk much with the heath) I did not do much today, just ironing for a couple of hours and read about 300 pages of a book !!!
Nevertheless I hope they will soon reopen a closer gate to your place, better walk in the park than in the streets...
