Beehives, Valdemanco

Sierra de La Cabrera and Mondalindo as a backdrop.
The villagers move the hives every few years to deter honey thieves (and I mean the human kind, not bears!). I keep coming across them in ever-more inaccessible places!

This is amazing to see - I can understand that the beekeepers need to hide them, but this is really a remote and virtually inaccessible place.

Andy Rodker replied to Jenny McIntyre:

It's worth the effort to hide them! I buy the excellent honey at the bar in the village. They know me well now - it's been my starting point for my walks here for nearly 10 years! I like to perk myself up with a cafe solo before heading off up the mountain!

How brilliant...................it must take a great deal of work to tend to the bees in such a remote area!

A fascinating shot Andy!
