Poppy field

Near my sister's home, Algete, Madrid Province.
2016 was the last proper poppy field performance. For whatever reason (weather? pesticides?) 2017, 2018 and 2019 were no-shows.
On the horizon at the left is the serrated crest of La Sierra de La Cabrera, favourite granite walking country.

Poppies like disturbed ground. If it wasn't tilled or left bare in 2016 2017 the seeds wouldn't germinate. The seeds last a long time in the ground, am if the area is cleared they will grow and the poppy field will emerge again.

Andy Rodker replied to Amelia:

Maybe that's the reason, Amelia. I will check again next year of course! Many thanks!

They look stunning Andy. I think someone must have gone along the A303 with wild flower seeds as it is looking so beautiful at the moment. Also on the outskirts of Shaftesbury, so many poppies.
