The church at Zarzalejo

Well it's actually the church in Zarzalejo Estación, not the old village further up the hill and a mile or so away. I think it's a pleasant looking church. I might even have a look inside one day!
La Machota Chica is the outcrop behind it.

I presume it's the local granite, Eunice but I can't be sure!

Andy Rodker replied to Fred Fouarge:

A fine but modest mountain to climb! More difficult but possible form this side without ropes, and an easy walk form the other side. It's main claim to fame are the views over Madrid in the distance, and the Palace of El Escorial below it. I've only ever climbed it the harder way from this side!
Thanks, Fred!

Andy Rodker replied to Keith Burton:

When I first 'stepped out' with my lovely lady friend, Keith we went for a drive and stopped off here because she likes this little church and she had never seen inside. As here, it was closed, but I have fond memories of it anyway!

Wow you've had some lovely weather there Andy - beautiful blue sky and the pale colour of the church really looks gorgeous.

Andy Rodker replied to Jenny McIntyre:

Thank you, Jenny.
Last weekend was glorious and reasonably mild. SInce then we got the cold Siberian air stream that the rest of Europe got. We had a lot of snow in November but it soon melted. It would be surprising if we didn't see more before the winter is out but, as in England, some years there is very little.
