Thanks, Jenny. A good long walk. I needed it. I used to do two long mountain walks a week (when I first lived in Spain). But then, thankfully, I got more work, I acquired a lovely girlfriend and these things reduced my walking time. Then a series of ill health incidents restricted me further. But when I can I love to get out there, even if it is only 2-3 times a year now. My girlfriend comes occasionally but she always finds she has something more urgent to do! She has vertigo and she is frightened I will take her up a mountain! I did once, using easy paths but, never again. I haven't heard the last of it (even now, six years after!).
I'm sorry Jenny, I know these things are not possible for you, but I also know you enjoy the vicarious experience!
I checked my mobile phone just one second before midnight and saw that I had done 39,898 steps today! If I had checked it a few minutes before, I would have been seen trotting round the room to get those extra 102 steps!!! How sad!!!

My wife has the step-counting app for her iPhone, and always has to check how many steps we took after a hike--

Ha Ha! I usually forget to look but on some days I do a lot of walking between classes in different parts of the city and they often aren't that close to public transport, so out of interest I did check my steps for a week and found that the most I walked was 22,000 steps one day and the least was 8,000. biut an average of 12,000 to 15,000 which apparently represents good exercise. Just as well as I don't get it anywhere else!
